Happy Spring!

I can’t remember a Spring that I have more welcomed. This Spring has called me out of the small world that I have lived within for this past year. As I have emerged, I am struck again by both my profound gratitude for how this Earth speaks to my spirit and my significant responsibility to care for this world that so provides for my body and inspires my soul.

In celebration of Earth Day, and recognizing that our beloved community knows this earth as our home, Reverend John and I and others at UUCA have planned the following for you:

  • A duet of sermons (April 18 & 25) on connecting to our Earth and addressing the climate crisis. Reverend John will offer the first based on Naomi Klein‘s book, On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal, and I will offer the second based on a climate crisis response plan developed by the Union of Concerned Scientists.
  • Project Drawdown, a six-session program that focuses on how we can work individually and collectively toward“drawdown”— the point in the future when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline, thereby stopping catastrophic climate change — as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible.
  • A weekly Outdoor Community Invitation on Sundays from Noon to 2 pm, where we can gather to do spring gardening together.
  • An Outdoor Spring Clean Up at UUCA for May 1, 9 am to 2 pm organized by, the Grounds Masterplan Group. All ages welcome with children under 12 accompanied by a parent.
  • We also welcome other suggestions or offerings.

May we work individually in small ways and collectively in broad significant ways to care for this earth.

Yours in ministry,

Rev. Anastassia
