A Message of Comfort and Hope
Hello members and friends,
- Rev. John – jcrestwell@uuannapolis.org
- Rev. Anastassia – azinke@uuannapolis.org
As a UU I have grown to depend on rituals, prayer and meditation to ground me. I offer these words to you–to us–as comfort, faith, hope and love and invite you to read them aloud right now…
Spirit of Life, give us courage for such a time as this. I ask for good to continue to shine through. I ask that the higher angels prevail. That the new heavens and new earth continue to be manifest.
Great Spirit, sometimes we are weary and in need of strength. Console us, comfort us, and give us persevering power. Remind us that “weeping last for a night but joy comes in the morning”, as the psalmist wrote. We feel and see the winds of change. Remind us that love will prevail; that justice is love in action; that Dr. King we right, quoting our Unitarian ancestor William Cullen Bryant: “Truth crushed to earth will rise again” and “The arc of the moral universe is long but bends toward justice”, King quoting Unitarian Theodore Parker. This is a moment, Great Spirit. We are ready. Humanity is ready to progress.
To the God of many names; the god or no-god of your understanding; that “transient and permanent” power in the cosmos that continually teaches us how to dance with the ebbs and flows. We call upon you now in the name of love, justice, holiness, wisdom, truth, progress, and love. May it be so. Amen.
Blessings and love, UUCA
