Two Concerts at
UUCA This Weekend
The Annapolis Chamber Music Festival (ACMF) opens its seventh season with programs at UUCA this coming Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, August 13, at 7:30 p.m., the ensemble will present an ACMF favorite—“Fine Wine and Finer Music.” This season’s program pairs wines curated by Bin 201 Wine and Spirits with works by Maurice Ravel, Lili Boulanger, Michael Haydn, and others. The musicians return on Sunday, August 14, for a 3:00 p.m. matinee performance of works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and others in “Visitors: Echoes from Another Realm.”
The Annapolis Chamber Music Festival, founded in 2016 to present innovative concerts in fresh and unexpected ways, brings an ensemble of accomplished musicians from across the country to Annapolis each summer for a series of performances at several venues. This year’s series includes the two programs at UUCA followed by performances August 18, 19, and 20 at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Annapolis. Each program is built on a theme and features varied instruments and performers, ending with “Summer Serenade: Festive Finale” focusing on the theme of community and togetherness. Tickets for this season’s five performances are available at the door or at www.chambermusicannapolis.org/tickets. Ticket prices range from $60 for the opening event, which includes several wine tastings and a post-concert reception, to $30 for each of the remaining performances.
While in Annapolis, ACMF will also present a free children’s concert at Busch Anne Arundel Public Library on Friday, August 19th, 10:30-11:30 a.m., featuring works that guide young listeners—and adults—through the discovery of different instruments and sounds.
UUCA has partnered with ACMF for past concerts and encourages anyone who appreciates classical music to attend this year’s series. This ensemble of world-class visiting musicians will not disappoint.
