The Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis UUCA) is a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Association (UUA)—an association of liberal congregations but not a governing body. Our church governs itself. We invite you to become a member and add your voice.
The Board of Trustees is made up of eight members plus the called ministers; they serve in trust for the congregation. Staying in close touch with the congregation, the Board articulates the church’s vision through its Governing Policies and, referring to those policies, monitors the work of the Executive Team. The Board speaks only through its written policies decided by discussion and consensus or voting. For a more detailed explanation of governance, see the tab “How We Govern.”

As members of the Board of Trustees of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, we covenant the following:
- To interact with honesty, authenticity, and compassion;
- To work cooperatively toward our goals while appreciating each other’s unique gifts;
- To assume positive intentions of one another;
- To practice using language that is clear, positive, and future-oriented;
- To release individual ownership of our ideas;
- To speak with one voice regarding Board decisions;
- To conduct our relationships to reflect the vision of the beloved community;
- To work in the best interests of the congregation; and
- To be accountable for our words and actions.

Congregational Meeting Approved Minutes and Relevant Documents
UUCA has two all-church meetings per year. At the April Congregational Meeting, UUCA elects the officers of the Church. At the December meeting, the next year’s budget is approved. Business cannot be conducted without a quorum, so attendance is strongly encouraged.

Monthly Minister/Executive Report
With input from the Eighth Principle Implementation Team and further board discussion, we have decided to make the Minister/Executive Monthly Report available to all congregation members, not just the board.
As your representatives, our role involves overseeing the Executives and Ministers through policy governance. This means we don’t dictate how they do their jobs, but we ensure they are accountable and transparent in achieving our church’s mission and vision. The minister’s report provides an excellent monthly summary of church activities, and we believe sharing this with you will enhance transparency.
The report will be posted with the meeting minutes on our website and will be password-protected to ensure it is accessible only to members and friends. This extra step helps protect the information from Ai and other screening tools.

Meetings of the Board of Trustees are open to any member who wishes to observe the deliberations of the Board. If the Board enters into Executive Session to discuss personnel or confidential matters, members will be asked to leave for that portion of the Board meeting.
