Changes are Coming!

Keep An Eye Out!

The church is now accessible through the front entrance, side entrance (near the bridge to the Fahs house), the upper deck doors, and the lower doors by the Faith Formation Sanctuary.

Coffee hour on Sunday will be outside on the side lawn area.

Please use caution when walking around the premises and within the building as construction takes place!

Work on the Faith Formation half of the downstairs begins next week!

Please Note: The Faith Formation Sanctuary doors will be inaccessible next week Monday – Friday.

Contractors began work on Monday, September 13 on the long-awaited Phase 1 renovations to the UUCA building.

Strickland Fire Protection is installing sprinklers to protect the entire church building. Workers began installing sprinklers in the Sanctuary this week and will follow with installation in the administration area on the main level and all rooms on the lower level. Although all sprinkler pipes will be covered or painted before the renovation is finished, this last step must wait until the church is connected to public water and the sprinkler system can be tested.

All-N-Construction and Restoration is working in the Narthex, the first stage of a project that will include adding a serving area to the existing catering kitchen and creating a new, light-filled main entrance to the church.  David Wicker, All-N’s general contractor, and his crew have installed heavy cardboard floor covering to protect the carpet tiles and created a partition between the work area and the remaining portion of the Narthex, which is open to foot traffic.

The Sanctuary will be open for services throughout the renovation. Because of the extensive work involved, the church’s main entrance will be closed.  We ask that you use these entrances to enter the church:

  • The side door to the administration/gallery area, or
  • The lower level entrance and the lift, or
  • The outside steps from the lower level parking lot that lead to the upper deck

This is an exciting beginning, and we are grateful for the financial support of UUCA members. Because supply chains are uncertain, we can’t accurately predict the date of completion. We will celebrate when it comes!
