Easter and Earth
Come Celebrate with Us
April 17
Those new (and not-so-new) to Unitarian Universalism are sometimes surprised that it is one of the biggest Sundays of the year. More people come: young, old, and in-between. Some wear festive hats, floral prints, or bright colors. We are not a formal faith nor one that looks more towards the past than the present. So why Easter?
I suggest that it is because Easter is undeniable. By which I mean, its connection with the shift from Winter to Spring is undeniable. It is because we do not want to deny ourselves of the reminder that hope is not futile but rather faithful, faithful to our own dream of a better world. It is undeniable that our human selves need to feast, celebrate, sing, and be joyous, particularly when we can do so in community and after things have been hard. And they have been hard. So we come on Easter Sunday because for all of these reasons it is good to be together.

11:00 am Community and Coffee Hour, Egg Hunt, and Photo Station
Bring finger food to help make this coffee hour special. There are no After Hour programs so we can focus on our time together as a community. Want to take a photo together? A festive photo station has been set up, location TBD. The egg hunt is on UUCA grounds will begin at 11:15 am; gather at the Magnolia tree.
Easter Sunday is also the launch of our “Entwined with our Earth” worship theme. Consider reading Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge And The Teachings Of Plants, by Robin Wall Kimmerer. After Hour sessions inspired by this work will be offered on April 24 and May 1. You can also explore other resources to further your exploration of this theme.
Thanks for bringing life and hope to our community and our shared world,
Rev. Anastassia
