UUCA Habitat Update
UUCA has been a member of the Anne Arundel County Faith Coalition of Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake for many, many years. As part of that coalition, we have co-sponsored the building or rehabilitation of seven home-builds, working with their new homeowner families, since 1998. Currently, Habitat is working on the architectural and permitting phases of several new homes on Jacobs Road in Severn, MD, and in Curtis Bay in Baltimore. It is anticipated that the actual construction of those projects will get underway by the spring of 2022. At that time, volunteers will be welcomed and appreciated.
More locally, Habitat is working on a purchase deal for three townhomes in Town Pines, off Clay Street, in Annapolis, next door to one of our previous homeowner partners. If the contract is signed and the purchase goes through, there is a possibility of construction/rehabilitation beginning there in the spring of 2022. At that point, Habitat of the Chesapeake will be looking for co-sponsors and families for the three homes.
Currently, Habitat of the Chesapeake is looking for volunteers who can help out with the ReStore in Glen Burnie, where they have been inundated with contributions over the past year. Tasks at the store would include greeter, cashier, organizer/sorter, and even destroyer of unusable contributions. Volunteers can be as young as 14, with a chaperone.
