I Am Thankful For…
Heather Millar, President
It is appropriate at this time of the year to look back. As I do this, I am extremely thankful for many things; high on the list is lots of stuff related to UUCA. Our choir and all our music folks continue to move/inspire/comfort us. I am thankful for their musical talents and also for their boldness and patience to continue to meet remotely and produce magnificent music virtually. I marvel at the technological expertise that is required to produce such glorious sounds. THANK YOU to all who devote time, energy and talent to make music enjoyed by all.
To help generate the necessary income needed to finance all we are doing and additional items on our “aspire” list, we have a new Stewardship Team who launched our Year-End Appeal emphasizing generosity and are actively making plans for 2021. Thank you to this Team for their already completed work and for their willingness to do more to ensure we can continue to encourage each of us to live Bold and Compassionate lives. Another effort to generate funds plus fun is our FUNdraising Team. Covid-19 has made their work more challenging but they continue to donate their attention on this important aspect of our church life. THANK YOU to all who help generate income to enable us to be the beloved community of our dreams.
We are fortunate to have a Finance Committee that probes the use of our monetary contributions. They meet throughout the year, considering the details of our income and expenses to ensure we are making the best use of our revenue. The Endowment Committee manages our Endowment fund to ensure we support groups and expenditures to implement our intentions to support all of our 8 Principles. THANK YOU to all who monitor our finances to ensure we can achieve as much as possible with our proceeds.
I am thankful for our Ministers of Equal Standing. Rev. John has been with us for many years and is now embarking on this new relationship and accepting additional responsibilities. Rev. Anastassia is re-joining UUCA and adding her fresh perspective and heart based on her years of experience. THANK YOU for working together to lead us into an enriched future.
I would love to thank all groups and individuals that make UUCA so meaningful to me and others. However, with the already over 350 words, I have only touched the surface of the vast number of teams, committees, groups and individuals that call UUCA home. To avoid writing a book, I will end this THANK YOU card with one more thought. Each week when I touch the various links included in In The Know, I am reminded of the enormous number of people involved with making available opportunities for meaningful participation. You all inspire me and feed my soul. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Happy New Year and stay safe!
