NEW SOLAR FARM!

November 24, 2021

You might have heard that a new solar farm is being built for low- and moderate-income residents of Montgomery County on a discontinued landfill.  It has room for about 1000 subscribers and will probably fill fast because it offers a 25% discount on PEPCO electric bills.

UUCA is now a partner of Neighborhood Sun, which is handling subscriptions to this solar farm.

If you have friends or family living in Montgomery County who meet the moderate or low-income criteria, you might alert them to the opportunity.  (Young people renting?  Retirees?  People with larger families? )  I was surprised by how generous the upper limits on income are.  UUCA’s web page provides all the details and how to sign up.  Every sign-up that comes through the UUCA webpage generates an award of $50 from Neighborhood Sun to thank UUCA.

In the article below, you can sign up for all open farms operating under BGE or PEPCO, regardless of income or homeownership status.  (Size of discounts on electric bills is smaller, but still offers a way for those who get their electricity through Maryland utilities to switch to solar with minimal hassle. Why pay more than the utility’s rates for renewable energy (good citizens, yes), when you can go renewable and even get a little discount?  Check it out after digesting TG dinners.

Happy Thanksgiving
